Assignments and Grading
During this semester students will be expected to:
q Participate in the classroom discussions.
q Complete homework assignments
q Read all assigned readings: Scripture, periodicals, and others
q Write opinion or research papers on various assignment.
q Be examined on materials discussed in class and the readings
q Complete a project
Our class will be studying the Old Testament of the Bible. We’ll explore how the Canon came into being, the history surrounding the writers of the Bible, and the theology that shaped their world views. We’ll examine the formation of the faith and it’s relevance in the world today and what difference Christian can make in modernity.
Our goal is to: be to familiarize the students with the history and geography of the Old Testament. See the progress of redemption in the Old Testament. Critique the approaches to the Old Testament made by modern scholarship. See the way in which Christ is portrayed in the Old Testament, and see the importance of the Old Testament in the life of the believer.

· The Pentateuch – Moses’ story the Exodus
o Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy
· Historical Books
o Joshua, Judges, Ruth,
o 1st&2nd Samuel, 1st&2nd Kings, 1st&2nd Chronicles
o Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther
· Poetic Books – Wisdom Literature
o Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon
· Prophetic Books
o Major prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel
o Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi
